Porcupine Mountain Repeater

The VVARA tech crew had a work day at the repeater building on Porcupine Mountain. The old folded dipole antenna was removed and replaced by a new 70cm vertical antenna. (Watch this site for info on when the 70cm radio is back in service.) The APRS antenna was also replaced and the APRS now has the correct location ID. Here are a few photos from the day:

The VVARA is once again participating in ARRL Field Day on Saturday & Sunday, June 22-23, 2024. We will be located at the Mingus Summit Picnic Site between Cottonwood and Prescott, Arizona on Highway 89A. Here is a Google map. You can download this PDF for basic information: What is Field Day? Getting Started with FT8

FT8 is a mode in the WSJT-X software developed by Dr Joe Taylor K1JT. This video shows how to get started and make contacts with FT8, an introduction for beginners.
